How long can you take Sunitinib?
Consume this tablet once every day for 4 weeks. The treatment is followed by 2 weeks of not taking the medicine (after every 4 weeks). This makes one cycle of the treatment and is repeated for as long as the prescription of your doctor.
Is Sunitinib a chemotherapy drug?
It is more of a target treatment than just being a usual chemotherapy drug. It works on different types of cancers, though. The medicine inhibits receptors that exist on the surface of some cells called receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs).
Sunitinib Kidney Cancer
The medicine is also used in the treatment of kidney cancer (renal carcinoma), spread to other parts of the body.
It also works on advanced pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (cancer that has affected hormone-producing cells in the pancreas).
