History
Michael Sofia, a scientist at Pharmasset discovered Sofosbuvir in 2007. And in 2010, the drug was tested on people for the first time.
In 2011 Gilead Sciences bought Pharmasset. Sofosbuvir is one such compound. In 2013, it was approved for use in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration.
Gilead Sciences manufactures Sofosbuvir as Sovaldi. Previously the drug Sofosbuvir was known as GS-7977. However, it was originally developed by Pharmasset as compound PSI-7977.
